What each discipline actually involves
Embedded Firmware & Software Development
Embedded firmware and software development covers both the low-level code that runs directly on a device's microcontroller and the application-level code built on top of it -- from hardware control to the product's actual features.
Built for: Hardware product teams who need firmware that's reliable in the field, plus the application-level software layer -- control logic, UI, connectivity -- built for their device's real constraints.
Our approach: We write production firmware and embedded software in C/C++ (and Rust where it fits), designed for real production constraints -- power budget, real-time response, update strategy -- with unit tests and static analysis from day one.
RTOS Development
RTOS development is building firmware around a real-time operating system -- FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or a bare-metal scheduler -- so a device's timing-critical tasks run predictably under load.
Built for: Products where timing correctness matters -- a control loop, sensor pipeline, or connectivity stack that has to run on schedule, not just most of the time.
Our approach: We architect task and priority structure, integrate FreeRTOS or Zephyr, and profile real-time performance under worst-case load before sign-off.
Embedded Linux Development
Embedded Linux development is building and customizing a Linux-based operating system -- kernel, bootloader, and userspace -- for a purpose-built device rather than a general-purpose computer.
Built for: Products powerful enough to run Linux -- single-board computers, gateways, industrial controllers -- that need a customized, minimal, secure OS image.
Our approach: We build custom Yocto or Buildroot images, configure the bootloader and kernel for your board, and strip the image down to what the product actually needs.
IoT & Connected Software
IoT and connected software development is building the device, connectivity, and cloud software that lets physical products send data and receive commands reliably at scale.
Built for: Businesses deploying a fleet of connected devices that need reliable telemetry, remote updates, and visibility into devices in the field.
Our approach: We build the device-side connectivity layer and OTA update pipeline, and integrate with your cloud backend, including provisioning for fleet-scale onboarding.
Schematic Design
Schematic design is capturing a product's circuit -- power, signal, and component selection -- into the schematic and bill of materials that PCB layout and manufacturing are built from.
Built for: Hardware teams starting a new board or revising an existing one who need the circuit-level design done right before layout begins.
Our approach: We select and validate components against your power, cost, and sourcing constraints, and produce a clean schematic and BOM ready for layout and manufacturing.
PCB Layout
PCB layout is turning a schematic into the physical board -- placing components, routing copper traces, and stacking layers -- while meeting signal integrity, thermal, and manufacturing constraints.
Built for: Teams with a finished or near-finished schematic that needs to become a manufacturable board, from simple 2-layer designs to dense multi-layer, high-speed layouts.
Our approach: We place and route in your ECAD tool of choice against your fab's capability file, applying impedance control, decoupling, and thermal relief where the design calls for it, and hand over Gerbers, drill files, and a fabrication-ready package.

FAQ
Questions engineering leads ask us
What RTOS and embedded Linux platforms do you support?
We work most often with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, and Yocto/Buildroot-based embedded Linux, and adapt to your existing platform where one is already chosen.
How do you scope a new engagement?
We start with a short discovery call, followed by a written scope covering deliverables, timeline, and cost before any build work begins.
Do we own the code and IP at the end?
Yes. Source code, documentation, and deployment access — including BSP and driver source — are handed over as part of every engagement.
Can you work alongside our in-house firmware engineers?
Yes — many engagements are staff-augmentation style, working inside your existing team, toolchain, and repositories.
What industries do you typically work with?
Mostly industrial automation, medical device, IoT, and semiconductor product teams — see the Industries page for how we approach each one.
Do you take on software-only development projects?
No — we only take on software development as part of an integrated EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) engagement. We don't offer standalone, software-only contracts.
